This plugin enables news functionality for the website.
When activated, the plugin creates a virtual page called /news/ where news is displayed.
Themes inсlude widgets for displaying news on both the main page and the sidebar.
In the admin menu, the plugin creates a special "News" section. News settings are available. They are located under "News" - "Settings."
The following settings are available:
Page Text
The text that will be displayed on the front page at the very top. If you omit the text, it will not be displayed.
Number per Page
The number of news items to display per page. If there are more news items, the rest will be hidden behind the navigation.
RSS Feed
Whether to enable the RSS feed for news. If enabled, the feed will be accessible at /news/feed/.
RSS Number
The number of news items that will be displayed in the RSS feed if the RSS feed is enabled.
Adding/Editing News
News items can be added and edited from the admin panel. The following information is required:
Permalink
Field for entering the permalink's tail.
Publication Date
The publication date of the news item. If the date is later than the current date, the publication will take place in the future, and the news will remain scheduled.
Headline
The title of the news.
Content
The news content that will be displayed on the news page when viewed.
Summary
The summary of the news that will be displayed in widgets. If the field is empty, an excerpt from the content will be displayed, but without formatting.
Image
Preview image for the news. Displayed only in widgets.
Category
The news category. In other words, the section.
Status
The news status. Published or under moderation.
News items are sorted by date written.
News items are automatically added to sitemaps for selection.
