To perform any action in the admin panel, you must have the appropriate rights.
A Role is a combination of several rights.
The site administrator can create and edit user roles from the admin panel in the "User Roles" section.
The exception is two roles that exist by default. They cannot be deleted or edited:
Administrators
Users with administrator rights can perform absolutely any actions related to site management.
User
A regular user registered through the site front end. This user type has no rights to administer the site.
User Rights
User rights are defined by plugins and other functions. The administrator can only grant certain rights for a specific user role.
To do this:
- go to the "User Roles" section - sеlect the role to edit
- check the boxes next to the required capabilities and click "Save."
The settings apply to all users who have this role assigned.
Adding a new user role
When adding or editing user roles, there are two fields:
Role name
Any name for the role. This is how the role will be displayed everywhere it is specified.
System name for the role
Name for the database. One word. Only Latin characters, including underscores.
